A ground art project in the form of an Analemmatic (‘human’) Sundial was created on Aldridge School Campus by the Rotary Club of Aldridge in partnership with Aldridge Croft Community Group, Walsall Council regeneration and environmental services and other local groups within Aldridge Village. For many years Aldridge Rotary Club has been at the forefront of organising and arranging the Aldridge Poppy Appeal and the annual Remembrance Parade and Service, where homage is paid to The Fallen.
This project was developed as a way of having ongoing engagement with the public, particularly younger people. This will be a reminder to us all of the service and sacrifices made by our Uniformed and other Public Services. The Sundial which is inspired by the Analemmatic sundial in the National Memorial Arboretum has specially imprinted clay bricks that serve as reminders of the significant anniversaries of the conflicts that have been experienced over the years since the World Wars.
It provides poignant reminders that, whilst time passes, for many, it has stood still.
